Prime Minister Hovik Abrahmyann received a delegation led by World Bank Regional Director for South Caucasus Henry Kerali.

Highly appreciative of the ongoing cooperation between Armenia and the World Bank, the Prime Minister pointed out that 15 joint projects to a total cost of USD518mn are currently being implemented in our country. “We wish to overhaul and boost cooperation with the World Bank by means of new joint programs,” Hovik Abrahamyan said describing as quite effective the work done under the 2014-2017 strategy.

As he introduced newly appointed World Bank country manager Laura Bailey, Henry Kerali said to be confident that her activity might not only promote, but also give a new impetus to bilateral cooperation on the basis of mutual trust and understanding.

Stressing that the World Bank is ready and interested in implementing new ambitious projects in Armenia, Mr Kerali advised that the Bank’s vice president is going to visit our country in the near future to discuss issues and projects of mutual interest.

Henry Kerali highlighted those World Bank-supported projects implemented in the fields of tourism and agriculture, noting that they have great development potential.

Congratulating Laura Bailey on appointment, the Head of Government wished her proactive and effective work. The Premier expressed the hope that Ms Bailey’s wealth of experience and professional skills might help deepen and intensify bilateral cooperation.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the pace of joint programs, as well as other issues of mutual concern.
