Prime Minister welcomes Minister of Labor and Social Development of Canada

 Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan today received a delegation headed by Minister of Labor, Social Development and Multiculturalism, member of the House of Commons of Canada Jason Kenney.

We attach great importance to the development of both political and economic cooperation with Canada. I am convinced that such visits help strengthen relations between our countries and peoples. Among the regional countries Armenia was the first to found its Embassy in Ottawa, attaching great importance to the development of bilateral ties,” welcoming the guests, stressed the Prime Minister.

Hovik Abrahamyan thanked Jason Kenney for his great personal contribution to the recognition by Canada of the Armenian genocide and invited him next year to take part in commemorative events that will take place in Yerevan.

Mr Kenny thanked for the warm welcome and praised the role of the Armenian community in Canada’s social, economic and cultural life. The sides noted the importance of taking steps in the direction of enhancing bilateral trade and economic ties and increasing trade volume.

The Prime Minister stressed that the top priority of the new Government is to develop the economy, and the Executive branch creates favorable conditions for attracting foreign investment.

The parties also exchanged views on the prospects for Armenia’s participation in integration processes, the geopolitical situation the region, as well as on international developments.
