08.07.2014

Within the frames of the working visit to Shengavit district Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan visited the sport school of the district.Within the frames of building improvement program of the Municipality provided for 2014 the school is to be provided with a heating system. Accompanied by the head of the administrative district the Mayor walked about the sport school, familiarized himself with the work done. “As we have promised, after finishing the program of heating supply in schools and kindergartens we are carrying out that process in the sport schools of the capital. It should be noted that this sport school in Shengavit which is the largest in Yerevan had no heating system even in the Soviet years. Of the 30 sport schools operating within the Municipality jurisdiction only in 5 ones the heating hasn’t been supplied yet, but by the end of the year the problem will have been solved and there will be no sport school without heating in the capital”, stressed Taron Margaryan adding that the following year the Municipality was going to initiate repairing programs in the sport schools in different administrative districts.
Today more than 6000 boys and girls train in the sport schools subordinated to the Municipality of Yerevan. Mayor Taron Margaryan assured that as a result of implementation of these programs these young people training in more comfortable conditions will show higher results both in republican and in international competitions.
Within the scope of the working visit Mayor Taron Margaryan also familiarized himself with process of road construction going on in the segment of 1.3 km located between Labour square in Arshakunyats avenue and Shirak street. The aim of this program is to have a motorway gate in the south of Yerevan. The persons in charge reported to the Mayor that at that moment, within the frames of the first stage of the credit program of the Asian Bank for Development this area is being expanded, the communication lines are being changed: water lines, sewage, electricity, lighting systems are being updated with energy saving LED lamps.
Stressing the importance of the implementation of road construction programs in the capital Mayor Taron Margaryan said that serious steps are being taken in the direction of bypass road construction which is an important part of the Municipality program of traffic regulation. “The relief of traffic flows particularly in the center of the capital is a serious problem for us and we are implementing concrete road construction projects. Regarding this program I want to note that having a southern motorway gate has always been on the agenda because we had to use the local road through Noragavit. Now, within the frames of the credit program of the Asian Bank for Development we realize this important program”, said Taron Margaryan.
The Mayor walked about the building site, talked to the builders. Watching the process the Mayor instructed the persons in charge to keep the quality of the work under everyday control. The Mayor was reported on spot that in a few days they were going to continue the first stage of the program according to which in the junction of Shirak street and Arshakunyants avenue it is provided to construct a circle road hub in the height of 9 m which would have two tunnel openings. Due to this activities and the expansion of Artashat highway uninterrupted flows of transport would be provided to the southern gate of the capital. The persons in charge assured that the work will be finished by July, 2016. It should be noted that in this area there used to be private lands and the owners were given and are given corresponding compensations.
“Our goal is to have a unified bypass road connecting the three main gates of the capital and passing around the center of the capital. The second stage starts from the area of Shirak street adjacent to Karmir Blur, along the new bridge over the Hrazdan river, Argavand highway, Babajanyan and Tichina streets to Ashtarak highway and Davtashen quarter and this way we will have a road of 9 km passing by the center of the city. This will make it possible to connect the highways of Artashat, Ashtarak and Zovuni”, said Taron Margaryan.
