At the Fourth Meeting of the Armenian-Russian Friendship Parliamentary Club

On May 22 in the RA National Assembly at the Armenian-Russian Friendship Parliamentary Club, on the initiative of the Youth Union of the CIS countries a discussion on the theme “The Migration Policy in the Context of Eurasian Integration” was held.
The RA NA Deputy Speaker Hermine Naghdalyan, the NA deputies, Gagik Yeganyan, Head of the Migration Service adjunct to the RA Territorial Administration Ministry, specialists of the sphere and the experts of the public-political structures took part in the discussion. Konstantin Romodanovsky, Head of the Russian Federal Migration Service, was leading the Russian delegation.
Welcoming the participants of the discussion the NA Deputy Speaker Hermine Naghdalyan has read the address by the NA Speaker Galust Sahakyan, which says in particular that the activity of the Armenian-Russian Friendship Parliamentary Club has given a new qualitative nuance to the Armenian-Russian inter-parliamentary relations. In the NA Speaker’s opinion, the inter-parliamentary cooperation plays a big role in the harmonization of national legislations and in the formation of firm legal bases for integration processes. Wishing success in the joint work, the NA Speaker expresses hope that in that format the meetings will allow finding new mutually beneficial ideas in the solution of the issues of strategic importance for the two countries.
The NA Deputy Speaker Hermine Naghdalyan in her speech has touched upon the problems existing in the migration processes of the two countries, documenting with satisfaction that the Armenian-Russian Friendship Parliamentary Club gives opportunities to discuss the existing problems in the sphere and find mutually beneficial solutions.
Konstantin Romodanovsky, Head of the Russian Federal Migration Service, presented the principles and directions of the RF migration policy, deemed necessary the harmonization of the RA and RF corresponding legislation. He has informed the attendees that a relevant working group has been created which works in that direction.
In the course of the meeting the sides discussed issues relating to the migration policy between the two countries, Armenia’s accession to the Customs Union, illegal migration and its consequences and migration restrictions.
