On May 13 the Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly, Head of Armenia-Czech Republic Parliamentary Friendship Group Eduard Sharmazanov met with the delegation of the Committee on Petitions of the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic led by Zuzka Bebarová-Rujbrová. The NA deputies Margarit Yesayan, Levon Dokholyan and Tachaat Vardapetyan also took part in the meeting.

The sides discussed the development of the Armenian-Czech parliamentary relations, issues regarding the political, economic and cultural cooperation.

Eduard Sharmazanov has noted that the Armenian-Czech bilateral relations, as well as the cooperation within the framework of the European Union actively develop, which is greatly conditioned by the state visit paid by the RA President Serzh Sargsyan to the Czech Republic.

Touching upon the problem of the international recognition of the Armenian Genocide perpetrated by the Ottoman Turkey in 1915 and its programme of the 100th anniversary events, the Deputy Speaker assured the representatives of the Czech Parliament that voicing and mentioning about these tragic events at the state level is not only conditioned by the national pain. According to him, unless the whole international community has not recognized the Armenian genocide and has not assessed it as the biggest evil done against mankind, it means that it has not excluded the possibility of the new genocides yet. Eduard Sharmazanov proposed the Czech MPs to present a number of the exhibits of the Armenian Genocide Museum also in the Czech Parliament, which is an important step directed to the protection of human rights.

The Head of the delegation Zuzka Bebarová-Rujbrová expressed satisfaction with the rise of the Armenian-Czech relations and expressed readiness to do the utmost for more developing the ties between the two countries. She informed the attendees that the delegation had visited the Armenian Genocide Memorial Complex and paid tribute to the memory of the innocent victims. To the assessment of the Head of the delegation, we should do our best for preventing such heinous events.
