PM Receives Head of IMF Armenia Mission

Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan received Head of IMF Armenia Mission Mark Horton.

Welcoming Mark Horton to the Office of Government, the Prime Minister said to be interested in the furtherance of close cooperation with the IMF. In this context, the parties discussed issues related to bilateral cooperation, the main directions of Armenia’s economic policy and the development trends in the economy.

Congratulating Hovik Abrahamyan on taking the office of Head of Government, Mark Horton wished him every success. Mark Horton took the opportunity to introduce the details of the new IMF-approved three-year program for Armenia.

Then the parties discussed issues relating to the funded pension reform. The Prime Minister and the head of the IMF mission highlighted the reform, bearing in mind the demographic problems available in our country. Hovik Abrahamyan briefed the guest on the ongoing activities and the steps to take in this direction.

The interlocutors next talked about the new government program. The Prime Minister said that it should be realistic, aimed at addressing the challenges facing our society and the country, reducing black economy, combating monopolies, improving tax and customs administration. Specific programs will be implemented to attract investment.
