Portugal’s newly appointed ambassador to Armenia presented his credentials to president

Today the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Portuguese Republic to the Republic of Armenia Mario Godinho de Matos presented his credentials to President Serzh Sargsyan.

The president congratulated the ambassador on his appointment and wished him success. Serzh Sargsyan underscored that Armenia was interested in enhancing the interstate ties with Portugal and reinforcing the friendly relations between the two peoples. “We want Portugal to be one of Armenia’s stable friends. I am confident that you will do your best during your tenure,” said President Serzh Sargsyan to Ambassador Mario Godinho de Matos.

The interlocutors agreed that there were great potential and all necessary prerequisites for promoting the Armenian-Portuguese bilateral relations and multi-format cooperation.

President Serzh Sargsyan and the Ambassador of Portugal stressed the importance of expanding the legal and contractual field between Armenia and Portugal to which high-level mutual visits and active political dialogues could greatly contribute.

Ambassador Mario Godinho de Matos assured that he would do his best to advance the Armenian-Portuguese relations in all mutually beneficial directions and to promote active cooperation between the two friendly countries.
