To celebrate the Holy Easter with the townspeople, in accordance with the tradition, Yerevan Mayor Taron Maargaryan visited St Holy Mother church in Avan district. After the Holy Easter Liturgy the Mayor together with the residents lit candles and then had communion bread. Then Taron Margaryan approached the small ritual tables laid in the churchyard on the event and after the prayer and blessing by the spiritual leader of the church wished those present a Happy Easter. After visiting the church Taron Margaryan accompanied by the delegate of the RA NA Robert Sargsyan and the head of Avan district Manvel Javadyan visited the area of the old church Surb Tsiranavor in Avan district. Though the church is considered to be closed, all the religious feasts are marked here with solemnity in accordance with the tradition.
The performances of song and dance groups made the day more festive. In this church Mayor Taron Margaryan also lit candles.
