Hovik Abrahamyan Holds Consultative Meeting with Marz Governors

 On April 16, a consultative meeting was held with Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan on regional issues.

The head of government said to have great expectations from governors in terms of successful implementation of various government programs. “Provinces are of utmost importance to us, and we have a lot of work to do there. As Prime Minister, I will stand by you, focusing on every single question. We need to make non-standard decisions, appreciating what is good and criticizing bad practices,” Hovik Abrahamyan said addressing the governors.

Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Territorial Administration Armen Gevorgyan introduced the programs implemented by the government in the provinces. He dwelt on the assistance programs for those farmers who were hit by frost earlier this March, stressing that the lists of beneficiary households would be published on the websites of local governments. Hovik Abrahamyan urged the governors to make a thorough study of farmers’ losses in order to support then on an individual basis.

The Prime Minister was also informed that 80 anti-hail stations had been installed in all the provinces during the year, operational as an integrated management system under the Ministry of Emergency Situations.

The meeting next discussed assistance to be provided in the form fertilizers, diesel fuel and seeds. Coming down to the fifth emergency program targeting the regions, Armen Gevorgyan said 442 different programs are due to be implemented by this yearend, which cover housing, refurbishment of pre-school institutions, water supply, construction of cultural facilities, etc.

In conclusion, the head of government asked the competent authorities to ensure high quality of activities, stressing that the matter was going to be kept in spotlight.
