The session of the Executive Body of the Republican Party of Armenia did not discuss any issues over the new candidate for the Prime Minister and the new Government. The speaker of the Republican Party of Armenia Eduard Sharmazanov stated this in a conversation with the journalists after the session of the Executive Body of RPA. “No discussions were held over the new Government, since, according to our Constitution, the President of the Republic of Armenia should conduct consultations with both the political majority and political factions in the National Assembly. After that, using his constitutional authorities, Serzh Sargsyan will appoint a new Prime Minister and a new government,” he said.
E.Sharmazanov noted that they did not discuss any issue over a new candidate at the session of the Executive Body of RPA. “We have just listened to Tigran Sargsyan, who introduced the reasons for his resignation,” he noted. To the question whether Tigrans Sargsyan’s resignation may somehow hinder Armenia’s accession to the Customs Union, E.Sharmazanov answered that such a thing cannot happen. “It is our political decision and we think that Armenia will join the Customs Union within the defined dates,” E.Sharmazanov said.
The Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Tigran Sargsyan introduced his resignation to the President Serzh Sargsyan. The executive body of the party accepted the resignation. The Prime Minister introduced the application of his resignation a month ago, but taking into consideration that negotiations were going on around the Customs Union, the international economic conference of the Republican Party of Armenia should be organized, the President asked him to continue his authorities for some time. The speaker of the Republican Party of Armenia Eduard Sharmazanov stated that introducing the application for his resignation was Tigran Sargsyan’s personal decision.
