Dmitry Medvedev addresses participants of economic conference held in Yerevan

The Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev addressed the participants of the second economic conference titled “Armenia-Customs Union: Opportunities and Challenges”. The conference is organized by the Republican Party of Armenia. The Russian PM’s address was recited by Igor Chernishenko, member of “Yedinaya Rossiya” party.
As reports “Armenpress”, the Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev stated: “In September 2013 Armenia made an important decision announcing about the accession to the Customs Union and intention to become a part of the Common Economic Space. Russia, Belarus, and Kazakhstan supported the decision of Armenian colleagues.”
“I am confident that our steps on the road to integration will have a positive impact on the traditional friendly relations between Russia and Armenia and will contribute to the further strengthening of the bilateral cooperation in the economic, scientific-technological, cultural, humanitarian, and other spheres as well,” the Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev noted.
The second economic conference titled “Armenia-Customs Union: Opportunities and Challenges” held by Armenia’s ruling party launched. The conference organized by the Republican Party of Armenia brought together economists, representatives of various political powers, as well as guests from the Eurasian Economic Committee Board.
As reports “Armenpress”, it is considered that reports by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Tigran Sargsyan, the EEC Board Member Tatiana Valovaya, the Chairman of the Committee on Financial-Credit and Budgetary Affairs of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia Gagik Harutyunyan, the Minister of Finance of the Republic of Armenia Davit Sargsyan, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia Shavarsh Kocharyan, and others will be introduced to the participants.
In the result of the negotiations on September 3, 2013 in Moscow the Presidents Sargsyan and Putin confirmed the aim of the Republic of Armenia and the Russian Federation in the direction of further development of economic integration processes in the Eurasian territory. In that context the President of the Republic of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan announced about the Armenia's decision to join the Customs Union and the necessity of implementation corresponding steps for that aim and in future about participating in formation of the Eurasian economic union.The President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin expressed his support to the abovementioned decision of Armenia and informed about the readiness of the Russian side to support the process.
