Government approves country’s long-term development plan Every citizen should prefer to live in Homeland

27.03.2014

At the Cabinet sitting of March 27, 2014, the Government approved Armenia’s long-term development plan for 2014-2025.

The Executive revised the Sustainable Development Program of 2008 in the light of the global financial crisis trends and new realities. The revised post-crisis strategic plan aims to provide a systematic framework for the formation of government policy directions. The new program will help the government mobilize the country’s potential around a strategic vision of development, based on the existing know-how, current situation and global development challenges.

The program extends up till the year 2025. It outlines the country’s socio-economic development priorities and goals, the main obstacles and bottlenecks, the primary objectives for key reforms and policy tools, as well as the main risks and threats.

The government’s long-term development strategy seeks above all to enhance the population’s living standards in a consistent manner. Given the particularities of the current stage of development, providing high-quality and high- productivity jobs through employment is declared to be a top priority.

The government’s activities will be aimed at allowing everyone free access to equitable earnings commensurate with the amount of work done through personal effort. Once implemented, the program will instill in every member of society the conviction that they are protected by the State. The government will focus on the citizens’ personal and professional development, their civic and cultural education so that every citizen should have a preference for living in Homeland.
