RA Prime Minister, RF Minister of Transport Discuss Implementation of Bilateral Agreements

 Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan received Minister of Transport of the Russian Federation Maxim Sokolov. The Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia and the Minister of Transport of the Russian Federation are the co-chairs of the intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation between the Republic of Armenia and the Russian Federation.

“Your visits always give new impetus to all the matters on the agenda of the Armenian-Russian relationship and is a good opportunity to discuss progress of in their development and implementation,” the head of government said in his greeting remarks.

Maxim Sokolov advised that he attended today the opening of the Armenian-Russian factory of medical disposable products, which points to the development of bilateral economic relations and investment cooperation. “

“Russian direct investment in Armenia makes 40 percent of foreign investment in the country. Additional USD50mn worth investment will be made in 1820 joint Armenian-Russian enterprises. I am glad that our dialog is developing dynamically, especially prior to Armenia’s accession to the Customs Union and the Common Economic Space. This is important for Armenia, Russia, and all the member countries of the Union,” the Minister of Transport of the Russian Federation noted.

Tigran Sargsyan, Maxim Sokolov discussed the implementation of agreements reached during the February 24 meeting between the Prime Ministers of the Republic of Armenia and the Russian Federation. In particular, they appreciated the pace of implementation of CU accession roadmap measures.

The Prime Minister informed that 97 actions have already been completed, and agreements on all the conceptual issues are reached at the level of working groups.

As they touched upon the agreements reached in the areas of energy, migration, investment and infrastructure development, the parties discussed and agreed on further steps to implement them.
