National Assembly Continues the Work of the Four-Day Sittings

On March 12 the parliament continued the work of the four-day sittings and by voting passed the bills and the legislative packages debated on the previous day.

Before the debate of the interrupted the NA Speaker Hovik Abrahamyan noted that within the framework of the NA Open Doors Programme the pedagogues and the pupils of Yerevan Senior School N 105 had visited the parliament and were following the work of the four-day sittings. By Mr Abrahamyan’s proposal the deputies welcomed them.

Afterwards the parliament continued debating the package of the draft law “On Amending the RA Judicial Code” and envisaging amendments to a number of laws relating it.

In his co-report the Chairman of the NA Standing Committee on State and Legal Affairs Davit Harutyunyan has noted that the Committee in principle positively refers to the proposing amendments.

The member of the ANC faction Gagik Jhangiryan deemed necessary to revise many provisions of the Judicial Code.

In the final speeches the key reporter Hrayr Tovmasyan and the co-reporter Davit Harutyunyan touched upon the deputies’ interpellations and gave clarifications. They expressed readiness to debate all proposals during the period from the first to the second reading.

The RA Justice Minister submitted for the deputies’ consideration in the first reading the package of bills “On Amending the RA Law on Bankruptcy” and “On Amending the RA Law on Public Bargaining.”

The member of the NA Standing Committee on State and Legal Affairs Arpine Hovhannisyan presented the endorsement of the Committee.

Then the deputies in the first reading also debated the package of bills “On Automobile Transport” and proposing amendments to a number of laws, which presented Armen Yeghiazaryan, Director of the National Center for Legislative Regulation/NCLR.

The key reporter answered the deputies’ questions, which were mainly relating the regulation of the transport problems, the possibility of raising the transport fee as a result of proposing amendments and its control.

The debate of the issue will continue at March 13 NA Sitting.

In accordance with the NA Rules of Procedure at the Wednesday last sitting the members of the government answered the deputies’ questions.
