 The open republican competition for the conceptual draft of reconstruction of the following squares in Yerevan: Brasil,Labour, Sasuntsi David, Russia and France, announced by the Municipality of Yerevan on 10.06.2013. have been summarized at the National Institute-Museum of Architecture under the presidency of the Chief architect of Yerevan Tigran Barseghyan.
The competition commission thoroughly studied the seven submitted projects and set assessment standards, then the members of the commission made their choice by voting in accordance with the standards.
So, it was decided to assess the seven submitted projects in accordance with their correspondence to the competition terms, with the diapason of urban development analysis, with the idea of competition, with planning and functional arrangement, with the unity of architectural idea and with the historical and architectural heritage evaluation.
No project completely satisfied the terms and standards of the competition, so during the discussion the members of the commission decided by unanimous voting not to give the 1st prize to any project.
Following the principle of comparing during the assessment the members of the commission voted for giving the first prize to Levon Vardanyan and Misaq Mkhitaryan for their conceptual draft of reconstruction Russia square in Yerevan, and the third prize was awarded to architects Vardan Penesyan, Astghik Sargsyan and Arthur Hovasapyan for the draft of reconstruction Of France square.
