 Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan had a meeting with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Italy to Armenia Giovanni Ricciulli.
Greeting the guest Taron Margaryan first of all congratulated him on his appointment to the office of the Ambassador of Italy to Armenia. Speaking about the friendly relations between Yerevan and the cities of Italy, Taron Margaryan stressed the importance of expansion of bilateral relations.
"I’d like to mention that the first sister-city of Yerevan was the Italian city of Karrara the business relations with which were established in 1967. In 2011 Venice became the sister-city of Yerevan, too. I won’t be mistaken if say that the development of friendship and business relation with the Italian cities is based on the centuries-old friendship between our countries and cities. We expect your support in the issue of strengthening and expansion of bilateral business ties", said Taron Margaryan..
Having thanked for the warm reception, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Italy to Armenia in his turn attached importance to the willingness of Yerevan to expand cooperation and assured that within the frames of his powers he will promote strengthening and development of the relations between Yerevan and the cities of Italy.
"In Italy we have successful communities and I am sure that there is a big potential for cooperation expansion in the various fields of urban economy. Yerevan is a very hospitable and attractive city, and both our peoples and our cities have a lot in common. I assure you, Mister Mayor, that within the frames of my powers I will do my best for the development of the cooperation between the cities of the two countries including the capital of Italy, Rome", stressed Giovanni Ricciulli.
Introducing the guest his approaches in the city management Yerevan Mayor attached particular importance to the implementation of investment projects with partner-cities.
"The Municipality of Yerevan is open and willing to discuss and do its best within its powers to promote realization of investment projects in Yerevan, We attach importance to the cooperation with the private sector which in fact can have serious influence on the development and modernization of the infrastructures of the capital", stressed Taron Margaryan pointing out the many years'successful cooperation with the Italian company "Renko".
Within the scope of the meeting the parties also discussed the issues related to tourism development.
