Another chess school has been opened in Yerevan

Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan participated in the solemn opening of a new chess school adjunct to the basic school N 185 in the administrative district of Ajapnyak. 90 members of the chess club functioning in the sport school in Ajapnyak district together with their coaches will continue their study in the new school. Another 200 children have also been checked in and will soon become the pupils of the school. Accompanied by the director of the Armenian Chess Academy Smbat Lputyan and the head of Ajapnyak district the Mayor walked about the building, got acquainted with the created conditions, talked with the children.
Answering the questions of the journalists Taron Margaryan stressed that due to the cooperation of the Municipality of Yerevan with the Armenian Chess Academy, chess schools will be founded in all administrative districts, this will promote development of this kind of sport in the capital.
“We have already had chess schools in four districts where all necessary conditions for arranging trainings and upbringing future champions had been provided for the children and the coaches. This program will be continuous in the future so we will have chess schools in all administrative districts. On the whole, when we have similar schools in all 12 districts, about 3000 children will have the opportunity to master this sport free of charge”, stressed Taron Margaryan.
Grand master Smbat Lputyan expressed gratitude for the implementation of the program and noted that the initiative of Mayor Taron margaryan to have chess schools in the capital really serves its goal.
“Today the children have fine conditions for mastering and developing their favourite game. In fact, Armenia is becoming a chess leading country and if we used to have problems in Yerevan they are being solved now. I am sure that together with the Mayor we will be able to do this good, kind work”, said Smbat Lputyan.
The chess schools being founded in the capital work free of charge. The centers are provided with all necessary equipment and other required appliances. The persons in charge assured that with the opening of the schools the number of chess-loving children and youth will significantly increase.
