 The First Deputy Mayor of Yerevan Kamo Areyan was present at the economic conference organized by the forum of the French-Armenian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Armenian Economic Development in which the members of the delegation headed by the Mayor of Marseille Jean-Claude Gaudin arrived in Yerevan by the invitation of Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan. In his greeting speech the Mayor of Marseille Jean-Claude Gaudin mentioned that the relations between Marseille and Yerevan like the relations between the two countries are becoming more expanded and new achievements are being recorded.
"I'd like to thank the Mayor of Yerevan Taron Margaryan for the official invitation and the warm reception. This is another fine opportunity to deepen our friendship and to outline further plans. I am glad that in 2011 we had the honour to host in France the delegation headed by the RA President Serzh Sargsyan, and in 2012, in Marseille we met with the Mayor of Yerevan Taron Margaryan. And now, in Yerevan we have signed a new cooperation agreement by which we have ratified our willingness to go on the work", said the Mayor of Marseille Jean-Claude Gaudin.
Greeting those present on behalf of Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan the First Deputy Mayor Kamo Areyan stressed the importance of holding the conference within the frames of the visit of the Mayor of Marseille to Yerevan and noted that the cooperation between Yerevan and Marseille has a 20-year history. Multi-lateral commercial and economic, scientific and cultural relation have been formed between the sister-cities. Last year within the frames of the visit of the delegation headed by Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan to Marseille a number of meetings took place including the meeting with the French-Armenian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Some months later there was another occasion to meet in Yerevan within the frames of the festival “ Countries under one roof”. The Municipality of Yerevan took part in the 3rd General Assembly of the world Armenian commercial network convened within the frames of the event of Marseille’s declaration European Cultural Conference 2013”, said Kamo Areyan.
The First Deputy Mayor also mentioned the second conference of the Armenian-French Decentralized Cooperation convened in Valence a few days ago in which Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan also took part. During the conference the economic cooperation between the two countries was stressed as one of the priority directions. According to the Deputy Mayor’s appraisal, such conferences create wide opportunities for discussion of new business programs. Kao Areyan wished the participants of the Yerevan conference productive work and assured on behalf of the Mayor that the municipality of Yerevan is open for cooperation and the city authorities are willing to present the interested structures the investment programs which can be offered in the capital.
