 From November 1 autumn tree planting will start in the capital and last till November 25. Mayor Taron Margaryan assigned the persons in charge to ensure active participation of condominiums and residents in the tree planting, as well as to inform the interested structures and organizations to implement the process maximally purposefully.
It is provided to plant about 20 thousand trees in the capital.
Thus, 10 thousand trees are to be planted by the efforts of landscaping companies of the capital, another 10 thousand-by the efforts of condominiums, educational, health and other establishments and organizations. Mainly ball-shaped acacias and platans are to be planted mainly because, according to the specialists they correspond to our climate and have good adaptability.
On the Mayor's instruction, the tree planting is to be carried out only in irrigated areas.
In this context, due to the annual program about 21 km of new irrigation network have been installed and the area of "Paros" forest zone, "Haghtanak" park and the park after Komitas have become irrigated where tree planting is also provided.
As a result of 2013 program of green areas expansion the total surface of green areas will become 850 hectares.
