Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan received a delegation led by Romanian Minister of Economy Varuzhan Voskanyan, who is in Armenia to attend the July 9 fourth session of the Armenian-Romanian Intergovernmental Committee.

Welcoming the guest on behalf of his government, the Prime Minister said, “We attach great importance to the strengthening of the Armenian-Romanian ties. There is great potential for expanding our relationship, and the Commission should form such an agenda and an action plan as might help deepen interaction. I am sure your visit will give a new impetus to bilateral ties.”

Varuzhan Voskanyan stressed that the traditionally high-level political relations between the two countries provide a solid basis for developing economic ties. In this respect, both sides highlighted the importance of the Armenian-Romanian business forum to be attended by a large business delegation from Romania. The Romanian Economy Minister advised that a memorandum of understanding has been signed the Armenian-Romanian Trade and Industry Association and the Romanian–Armenian Chamber of Commerce. It was also stressed that the forum would allow Romanian businessmen to get acquainted with Armenia’s investment environment, as well as to promote the development of tourism.

The parties talked about the organization of direct air flights, tourism development and expanded economic ties.

Tigran Sargsyan reiterated the invitation for Romanian Prime Minister Victor Ponte to visit Armenia.
