Yerevan Mayor visited the Armenian Apostolic church in Riga

 The delegation headed by Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan which is in the capital of Latvia with an official visit visited the Armenian Apostolic church Saint Gregory the Illuminator in Riga.
The spiritual leader of the church priest Khosrov Stepanyan presented Mayor Taron Margaryan the history of the church anointed in 2011.
Due to active support of the Armenian community this church built in the style of Armenian Apostolic churches is always crowded during religious ceremonies and masses, as priest Khosrov assured.
Taking into account that the visit of Mayor Taron Margaryan coincided with the Memorial day of the Armenian Apostolic church, the spiritual leader of the church rendered a requiem mass in the presence of the Yerevan delegation and the Armenian community of Riga.
Then Mayor Taron Margaryan together with the head of Latgales district of Riga Dmitry Pavlov and the representatives of the Armenian community visited the area adjacent to the church where it is planned to construct park of Yerevan.
The park to be built by the efforts of Riga’s city authorities and the Armenian community will become a special recreation zone both for the members of the Armenian community and the residents of Riga, as Dmitry Pavlov assured.
Expressing gratitude for the initiative mayor Taron Margaryan stressed that the Municipality of Yerevan will also assist in building the park and do its best to provide a Yerevan spirit in the recreation zone.
