26.06.2013

Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan received newly appointed Lithuanian Ambassador to Armenia Eric Petrikas.

Congratulating the Ambassador on appointment, the Prime Minister said. "We hope that your activities will give a new impetus to Armenian-Lithuanian relations by strengthening and diversifying them. We look forward to renewed ties in all fields of activity, including economy."

In this context, Tigran Sargsyan stressed the need for having a new intergovernmental commission agenda and holding business forums. The Ambassador briefed the Premier on the existing possibilities and preconditions for investment.

Cooperation in the fields of information technologies and tourism was described as highly prospective. The parties took the opportunity to look at ways of strengthening cultural ties between the two countries.

Eric Petrikas said Armenia may rely on his country’s backing for the Eastern Partnership Program-fostered European integration effort and the ongoing reform process.

The Prime Minister thanked Lithuania for a balanced position over the Nagorno Karabakh conflict and welcomed the Lithuanian lawmakers’ initiative to set up a group of friendship with Artsakh.
