15.05.2013

Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan received a business delegation led by German Economy Eastern Committee Executive Director Rainer Lindner.

Pleased with the visit of German businessmen, the head of government said it might boost economic ties between the two countries.

“Germany is a key economic partner of ours: there are several successful programs implemented in both the public and private sectors,” Tigran Sargsyan noted.

Thanking the Prime Minister for the reception, Rainer Lindner assured of his country’s readiness to give effect to the arrangements reached at the business forum, which was held in Frankfurt late last year. Industry, construction, information technologies, agriculture were singled out as areas of primary interest to the German side. The guests availed themselves of the opportunity to introduce their investment programs. Welcoming the initiative, Tigran Sargsyan expressed willingness to provide support through a set of various tools.

Rainer Lindner thanked the Premier for adherence to the policy of signing a deep and comprehensive free trade agreement with the European Union, which according to the German business community may bring in additional investments into Armenia. They went on to hail the government’s decision to liberalize the visa requirements for the citizens of EU-member States.

The parties further looked at the possibility of training young business professionals, promoting Armenian IT companies’ attendance of international exhibitions, as well as a number of regional issues.
