NA President Hovik Abrahamyan Receives the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of Montenegro Igor Lukšić

On May 7 the RA NA President Hovik Abrahamyan received Igor Lukšić, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of Montenegro.
Welcoming the guest the NA President expressed confidence that his visit would give a new impetus to the Armenian-Montenegrin relations. To Hovik Abrahamyan’s conviction, it is necessary to activate the bilateral cooperation in all directions. The NA President deemed necessary the creation and the development of the inter-parliamentary relations, highlighting the role of the friendship groups in boosting the parliamentary cooperation. He noted that in future Armenia-Montenegro Friendship Group would be formed in the National Assembly and proposed to create a similar group in the parliament of Montenegro. The NA President also deemed necessary the cooperation of the delegations of the two countries in international parliamentary structures. Hovik Abrahamyan stressed that the European integration was one of Armenia’s foreign political priorities, and in this direction our country had taken important steps, carried out active cooperation with all structures of the European Union. To the NA President’s assessment, Armenia actively takes part in the works of the Euronest Parliamentary Assembly with multilateral format of the Eastern Partnership, noting that the Armenian side has been the first to welcom the idea of creating Parliamentary Assembly within the framework of the Eastern Partnership.
Thanking for the reception the Deputy Prime Minister of Montenegro also highlighted the activation of bilateral relations and the enlargement in all spheres, deeming necessary the creation of the inter-parliamentary relations. He highly assessed Hovik Abrahamyan’s proposal to create a Friendship Group with the NA of Armenia in the parliament of Montenegro and noted that he would certainly convey the NA President’s proposal to the Head of the Parliament of his country.
The sides touched upon regional problems and stressed that the conflicts should be settled only through peaceful means at the table of negotiations. Other issues of bilateral interest were also discussed.
