Within the final events dedicated to Yerevan-World Book Capital Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan participated in the opening of the statue of Reader authored by artist and sculptor Nur (Arman Davtyan).
The bronze statue was placed in a symbolic place: near the children’s library after Khnko Aper. The composition of more than 2 meters height is comprised of books and a lamp. Everybody can sit on the sculpture and read.
The interactive sculpture has another feature: it gives the opportunity to enter www.karda.am through free internet available at the statue and download millions of books. By the way, the statue of Reader is unique in the world.
The intellectuals present at the event expressed confidence that opening of such a statue in the capital will become a stimulus for increasing the interest towards reading.
