Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan visited the art workshop

Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan was with a working visit in the art workshop located in Nor Nork district. Accompanied by the president of the Union of Artists Karen Adamyan the Mayor walked about the workshop, got acquainted with the conditions of production.
After standstill for years this only workshop of the republic was re-opened a year ago. Formerly a number of statues and sculptures which became the symbols of the capital were created in this workshop: Mother Armenia, David of Sasoon, Alexander Tamanyan, Martiros Saryan as well as the statue of Alexander Mantashyan opened with the participation of Mayor Taron Margaryan.
The Mayor watched the process of creation of the bronze sculpture of a reader authored by sculptor Arman Davtyan-Nur which is dedicated to the event of declaration Yerevan the World Book Capital. The sculpture is planned to be placed near the children’s library after Khno Aper. Introducing the current process of sculpture the artist noted that the 2,5-meter-high bronze composition will be comprised of books and a lantern and the main hero, the reader will be a citizen who will be able to sit down on the sculpture and read.
This interactive sculpture will give the opportunity to make use of free Internet installed in the adjacent area and enter the website bearing the name of the sculpture.
Mayor Taron Margaryan expressed confidence that in a short while the sculpture and its area will become one of the beloved corners of the townspeople and the guests increasing interest of the young to reading.
The Mayor also got acquainted with the activities concerning the symposium to be arranged in the yard of the workshop within the frameworks of which the created works of art will find their place in different parts of the capital, in yards and parks.
