On February 27 the RA National Assembly continued the work of the four-day sittings and by voting passed the RA bills debated on the previous day and ratified the international agreements.

The RA Justice Minister Hrayr Tovmasyan in the first reading submitted for the debate the package of draft laws “On Amending the RA Law on Alternative Service” and “On Putting into Action the RA Criminal Code.”

The key speaker was addressed numerous questions, and in most of them concerns were sounded in relation to the opportunity of emerging corruption risks. Many deputies were concerned about the possibility of those who will wish to turn into alternative service, which, according to them, is very dangerous in terms of national security.

The deputies expressed opinions that the draft law could not solve the existing problems in the sphere.

In his speech the Chairman of the NA Standing Committee on Defense, National Security and Internal Affairs Koryun Nahapetyan noted that the debates had also been stormy and concerned in the Head Committee.

In this stage the Committee Chairman deemed possible the adoption of the draft laws, noting that in that case it would be possible to amend and improve the package.

At February 28 sitting the deputies will continue to debate the issue, expressing views on the initiative of the Government.

At the last hour of the of the Wednesday NA four-day sittings, in accordance with the established NA Rules of Procedure, question and answer session was held between the deputies and the members of the Government.
