On February 16 the RA NA President Hovik Abrahamyan received the President of the OSCE Parliamentary Mission Riccardo Migliori, the Head of the OSCE PA Observation Mission Tonino Picula and the OSCE PA Deputy Secretary Tina Schøn .

In the course of the meeting issues regarding the procedure of the upcoming presidential elections were discussed. Both sides highlighted the conduct of free and transparent elections and the registration of the progress in democratic processes being implemented in Armenia.

The NA President Hovik Abrahamyan expressed conviction that the OSCE PA Observation Mission would offer an unbiased assessment to the presidential elections. The Head of the Parliament emphasized the observation missions being implemented by the authoritative organizations in national elections as an important stimulus of strengthening democracy in our country. “We have worked to solve the shortcomings recorded by international observation missions after the previous elections. The Armenian authorities have political will and interest to hold the presidential elections of 2013 at higher level and in accordance with European standards,” Hovik Abrahamyan noted.
