Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan On Working Visit To United States

On December 8, Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan’s working visit to the United States kicked off.

On the first day of the working visit, the Prime Minister went to the California Institute of Technology, where he met with University President Jean-Lou Chameau.

During the meeting, the Prime Minister introduced the ongoing educational reform in Armenia aimed at improving the quality of education and promoting Armenian universities’ international accreditation. As they discussed the prospects of bilateral cooperation, the parties touched upon the IT developments in Armenia and the existing growth potential.

In attendance of the meeting, Congressman Adam Schiff said Armenia has the potential to become a Silicon Valley in the Caucasus. Tigran Sargsyan next met with alumni and students of the Technological University of California and U.S.-based Armenians scientists.

Answering numerous questions asked by the audience, the head of government referred to the current status and the prospects of development in the sphere of humanities and natural sciences. Discussed were issues related to Armenian studies, astronomy, physics, mathematics, general pedagogy.

Thanking the participants, Tigran Sargsyan urged them to strengthen ties with the Homeland and promote development of science in Armenia.

Working visit of the Prime Minister in the United States will continue until December 12.
