The Treaty of Friendship between Yerevan and Stepanakert was signed within the frames of the official visit of the delegation headed by the Mayor of Yerevan Taron Margaryan to the capital of the NKR.The treaty directed at deepening relationships between the two cities and at mutually beneficial cooperation provides developing close partnership in a number of spheres of urban economy, as well as strengthening the existing business ties between the organizations of the two cities.Expressing gratitude to Mayor Taron Margaryan for the initiative of signing the treaty the Mayor of Stepanakert Suren Grigoryan said that it was really a necessity especially taking into account the experience and skills of the structural subdivisions of the Yerevan Municipality which will contribute to increasing the efficiency of governing the capital of the NKR.“Today Yerevan, the capital of all Armenians, is extending the hand of friendship and cooperation to the capital of struggling Artsakh. I welcome this initiative of Mayor Taron Margaryan and I am sure that due to this treaty we will have the opportunity to cooperate more widely', said Suren Grigoryan.Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan in his turn expressed gratitude for warm welcome and noted that the present level of relationship between Armenia and Nagorno Karabakh is supposed to stimulate development of relations and cooperation expansion between the communities of the two countries.'All the priorities outlined by our working groups will get program process in very short terms and I am sure the results won't be expected long. Within our powers we will also do our best to stimulate establishment of ties between the private companies functioning in the two cities and to expand these ties", said Taron Margaryan. The parties made an agreement to hold the meetings of the working groups In turns both in Armenia and in Nagorno Karabakh and submit reports on the results of the cooperation program to the mayors once a term.Before signing the treaty Mayor Taron Margaryan accompanied by Mayor Suren Grigoryan visited the Memorial Complex in Stepanakert and rendered the tribute of respect to the memory of the victims of the Great Patriotic War and the Artsakh battle.To symbolize signing the treaty of friendship between the municipalities of Yerevan and Stepanakert by the initiative of the Mayor of Yerevan beautiful benches with corresponding inscription were presented to Stepanakert. These benches already decorate «Veratsnund» sqaure (“Revival”) of the capital of the NKR, the gardens and the central streets of the city.
