During the press conference held in the parliament on July 27 the NA RPA faction member Hayk Babukhanyan detailed his visit to Ukraine. Mr Babukhanyan said that during his visit in the Delegation of the Mass Media of the CIS countries he met the Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovich, took part in the Crimea at the “Saint Cross” Armenian Ethnographic Festival.

At the meeting with the Ukrainian President the RPA faction deputy was interested in the fact if Ukraine, after assuming the presidency in the OSCE, was ready to honour the right to the nations’ self-determination, particularly, the people of Nagorno Karabakh. In response, the President of Ukraine noted that they were expecting considerable progress in the settlement of the issue during their presidency period. According to him, Ukraine sees the settlement of the NK conflict only on the basis of international law, exclusively through peaceful negotiations.

Hayk Babukhanyan said that the “Saint Cross” Festival, which was held in the territory of the Crimean Saint Cross Monastery Complex for the third time presenting the Armenian tradition. At the Festival the deputy presented the message by RA NA President Hovik Abrahamyan, where the Head of the Parliament had welcomed the Art Festival, noting that it united the Armenians living in the Crimea and Ukraine, promoted the maintenance of spiritual values among the Armenian young people, shaped creative and friendly ties, among our compatriots, as well as the participants of other nationalities of the Festival.
