Tigran Sargsyan Welcomes Newly Appointed Iranian Ambassador

Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Iran to the Republic of Armenia Mohammad Reisi.

Congratulating the Ambassador on assumption of office, the Prime Minister wished him fruitful work.

“Appreciating the development of Armenian-Iranian relations, we should make every effort so that they continue expanding and deepening. It is in the best interest of our two peoples,” Tigran Sargsyan said.

The Prime Minister assured that the ongoing Armenian-Iranian joint projects are the center of his government’s attention since Armenia is determined to bring them to their logical completion.

The Ambassador first congratulated Tigran Sargsyan on the Republican Party’s successful performance at the recent parliamentary election and conveyed warm greetings on behalf of Iranian First Vice-President Mohammed Reza Rahimi. Stressing that Iran attaches great importance to its relationship with Armenia, Mohammad Reisi expressed readiness to do his utmost for their furtherance.

The interlocutors said to be convinced that notwithstanding the upward dynamics of bilateral trade turnover, there is great potential for development.

Touching upon the Armenian-Iranian joint projects, the parties highlighted the planned launch of a third Armenia-Iran high-voltage power transmission line, oil pipeline and Meghri HPP projects.

Other projects of mutual interest have been discussed as well, including jewelry, pharmaceuticals and cattle breeding. They stressed the need to boost tourism and interregional cooperation.

Tigran Sargsyan hailed the Iranian authorities’ balanced position regarding the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, which is a factor conducive to regional stability.
