Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan attended a solemn meeting, dedicated to Armenian Prosecutor’s Day and the 94th anniversary of the Office of Prosecutor-General (OPG).

On their professional holiday, prosecutors laid flowers at the memorial plaque to Petik Torosyan, one of the founders of the Office of Prosecutor-General in Armenia.

Congratulating OPG staff on behalf of the Government of the Republic of Armenia, Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan said: “The activities of the OPG have always been the focus of the government and society. The reason is that quite often the State and the OGP face the same problems. Moreover, it is just with the help of the OPG that the State defies many serious challenges. It is no secret that corruption is a major bottleneck at this point of time."

The head of government assured that the fight against corruption is a priority for the Government. Addressing the audience, Tigran Sargsyan noted that citizens should not be afraid of prosecutors, while society should trust in the Office of Prosecutor-General with the confidence that prosecution is carried out properly.

Under a presidential decree, Deputy Prosecutor-General Aram Tamazyanu was awarded the title of Honored Lawyer of the Republic of Armenia for valuable contribution to the cause of law enforcement in the country. Military prosecutor of Yeghegnadzor garrison Tigran Sargsyan was conferred upon the rank of 2nd class State councilor of justice. The awards were handed in by Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan.

For meritorious performance of duties, the Prime Minister’s commemorative medals were given to Senior Prosecutor Armen Yesayan and Deputy Head of OPG Common Crime Department Hakob Martirosyan.

Prime Minister’s special diplomas were presented to Senior Prosecutor of OPG Corruption and Organized Crime Department Lilit Tadevosyan and Senior Prosecutor of Gegharkunik Marz Prosecutor’s Office Edward Harutyunyan.
