On May 30 the RA National Assembly Speaker Samvel Nikoyan received the U.S. Ambassador to Armenia John Heffern. The Head of the Parliament highly assessed the effective cooperation established for years, expressing confidence that it would also have its continuation with the newly formed National Assembly. The sides touched upon Armenia-the United States relationship, the reinforcement of inter-parliamentary cooperation, and regional problems. At the Ambassador’s request Mr Nikoyan presented the inner-political situation created after the parliamentary elections in Armenia.

John Heffern highlighted the works being carried out for strengthening the capabilities of the parliament and the rise of its control role.

The sides stressed the necessity of cooperation in developing the democratic values.
