Hrayr Tovmasyan receives delegation of OSCE/ODIHR Election Observation Mission

On 26 March Justice Minister of Armenia Hrayr Tovmasyan received Radmila Šekerinska, OSCE/ODIHR Election Observation Mission (EOM), and 2 delegation members.
The guests were interested in the role of the Justice Ministry of Armenia in electoral processes, as well as in issues concerning the procedure of elections and the legislation. As an official from the Justice Ministry told Armenpress, Minister Tovmasyan clarified that the department he heads does not deal with electoral processes directly.
The ministry has participated in making legislative changes, particularly, in RA Law "On Electoral Code of Armenia, "On Mass Media", "On Parties". The Ministry has also authored RA Law "On Freedom of Rallies".
With the guests'''' request, the Justice Minister presented the mechanism of appealing the election results, control mechanisms of elections and opportunities of women to participate in elections.
Highlighting the necessity for May 6 free and transparent elections, Justice Minister of Armenia stressed first of all our country and citizens need it, so everything possible will be done to hold elections in compliance of those standards.
