Head of the NA RPA Faction Meets the Ambassador of Ukraine to Armenia

On February 15 Galust Sahakyan, Head of the RPA faction of the National Assembly, received Ivan Kukhta, Ambassador of Ukraine to the Republic of Armenia.
Highly appreciating the continuous development and reinforcement of the political-economic ties, inter-parliamentary relations between Armenia and Ukraine. Both sides have recorded that the possibilities of comprehensive cooperation of the two countries much bigger, which by the implementation of different joint programmes, persistent steps should call into life.
The Ambassador of Ukraine expressed satisfaction for the tangible progress of cooperation in the sphere activation of inter-parliamentary relations and parliamentary diplomacy and thanked him, saying that the Armenian parliamentarians defend the positions of the Ukrainian delegations in the international structures and support them.
At the Ambassador’s request Mr Sahakyan has presented the reforms of the Electoral Code, different positions of the political forces on proportional and majoritarian electoral systems, informing him that parliamentary hearings on that theme are underway in the National Assembly. He has introduced the political principle of their party on the resoluteness of holding the upcoming parliamentary elections at high level, which will be not only a precondition of stability and advancement of the country, but it will also strengthen Armenia’s position and prestige in international structures. “The political field and atmosphere in Armenia is in such condition that all the political forces fully can display their possibilities,” Mr Sahakyan noted.
In the course of the meeting issues of the development of cultural ties of the two countries, the vital problems of the Armenian community of Ukraine, conservation of the Armenian monuments and other issues of bilateral interest were discussed.
