Today, President Serzh Sargsyan hosted the members of the Council of the European Youth Forum who have arrived to Armenia for a regular gathering of the Council.

The President of Armenia welcomed the members of the structure, which has become a large platform for the cooperation of the youth organizations of Europe, and expressed hope that the Yerevan meeting of the structure, which is interacting with over a hundred of national youth councils and international youth organizations, will be productive and the young people will also have an opportunity to familiarize with the historical and cultural heritage of Armenia, make new friends, which according to the President will enhance and develop close cooperation among young people representing different countries.

“I would like to stress that I always meet with great pleasure with the representatives of youth organizations and with young people in general because it is the shortest and most efficient way to learn about the vision of the new generation. Your mission - to enhance and increase the role of young people in all areas of the European public, is in full accord with our policy. We always welcome participation of Armenia’s youth organizations in the pan-European structures and their involvement with them for one simple reason – our system of values is a part of the European system of values.

I am very glad to see you in Armenia. I hope your works will be very productive,” said President Serzh Sargsyan and expressed readiness to answer all questions raised by the participants of the meeting.

Representatives of the European Youth Forum thanked the President of Armenia for receiving them and spoke about their activities and goals. They also asked the President of Armenia about the reforms conducted in our country, including already adopted constitutional reforms, inquired how they relate to a broader involvement of the youth and youth organizations in the decision making processes, what is Armenia’s state policy on increasing the role of the youth, on allowing the young people to fully use their potential, on receiving education and later on finding their place at the labor market.

The participants of the meeting stressed the importance of peace and stability in the region and in the world in general lest the present and the future of the young people are not endangered. In this context, the young people asked the President of Armenia about the NK peace process and problems which the conflict creates for the youth.

President Sargsyan gave detailed answers to these and many other questions raised by the participants of the meeting and wished them success in their future endeavors.
