THE NEWLY APPOINTED AMBASSADOR OF KOREA PRESENTED HIS CREDENTIALS TO THE PRESIDENT

Today, the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Korea Park Ro-byuk (residence in Moscow) presented his credentials to President Serzh Sargsyan. The President congratulated the Ambassador on his appointment and wished success during his diplomatic tenure in our country. Noting that since the establishment of diplomatic relations, political dialogue between our two countries has been conducted in a friendly manner, Serzh Sargsyan expressed hope that Ambassador Park Ro-byuk will use his experience and knowledge to further the bilateral relations in political, economic, cultural and other areas, for the strengthening of the interstate relations and deepening of cooperation which possesses great potential.
The President of Armenia noted that he recalls warmly his visit to the Republic of Korea in March, 2012. He arrived there to participate at the Nuclear Security Summit which was a pivotal event for global security. According to the Korean Ambassador, the visit of the President of Armenia to Korea gave a new impetus for the development of bilateral relations. Ambassador Park Ro-byuk said that he shares the President’s approach regarding the prospects of the Armenian-Korean relations and assured that he would do his best to deepen the relations, invigorate the bilateral cooperation to attract Korean investments in the Armenian economy. With this regard, the Ambassador stressed the importance of expanding the legal framework.
The two parties concurred that from the viewpoint of developing the bilateral trade and economic relations Armenia’s membership to the Eurasian Economic Union opens new perspectives. The Ambassador of Korea informed that currently his country is examining opportunities presented by the Eurasian market, as well as possibilities of economic cooperation with the member-states of the Union.
The President thanked the Government of Korea for the technical assistance provided to Armenia.
President Serzh Sargsyan and Ambassador Park Ro-byuk stressed also the importance of the cooperation between Armenia and Korea in the framework of international organizations. At the meeting, the parties discussed also the NK peace process carried out in the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group.
