PRESIDENT SERZH SARGSYAN HOSTED COUNCIL MEMBERS OF THE EPP STUDENT ORGANIZATION THE EUROPEAN DEMOCRAT STUDENTS

Today, President Serzh Sargsyan hosted the Council members of the European Democrat Students - a student organization of the European People’s Party. They have arrived to Armenia at the invitation of the youth organization of the Republican Party of Armenia to participate at the gathering named the Implementation of New Governing Models in the Countries of Eastern Partnership.
The President welcomed the representatives of the largest European youth organization to Armenia and expressed hope that the gathering in Yerevan will be productive and that the young people will have the opportunity to familiarize with the historical and cultural heritage of Armenia, will make new friends, which according to Serzh Sargsyan, will establish and enhance cooperation among the young people from the member states of the organization. The President of Armenia stressed the importance of meeting with the students and underlined that meetings such as this one allow to familiarize with new and progressive ideas of the participants, to learn about young people’s vision of the future. He said that he was very pleased to host the European Democrat Students.
“Communicating with the Armenian youth, you will be convinced that liberal views of your organization, the mission of spreading democratic values is not alien to Armenians. Eventually, you will see that the majority of the Armenian society shares your values. As the Chairman of the Party, which is a member of the EPP family, I certainly attach the utmost importance to the membership of the youth organization of the Republican Party of Armenia to your structure as an observer-member, and I am confident that our youth organization will bring its contribution to the development and strengthening of your structure,” said President Serzh Sargsyan. The President of Armenia expressed readiness to answer all questions of the participants of the meeting.
The young people asked the President of Armenia to present his views on a number of issues related to the domestic and foreign policies of Armenia, economy and security, including issues pertaining to the European agenda of Armenia’s foreign policy, advantages of the new Constitution of the Republic and significance of the changes to the Main Law for the country, issues related to Armenia-Diaspora, and state-church relations.
The young people thanked the President of Armenia for the warm welcome and noted that for the European Democrat Students meetings such as this one are very important and useful; they are important also from the viewpoint of having in the region reliable friends such as the Armenian youth.
