PRESIDENT RECEIVED DELEGATION HEADED BY THE PRESIDENT OF THE CHAMBER OF DEPUTIES OF THE CZECH REPUBLIC JAN HAMACEK

President Serzh Sargsyan received today delegation headed by the President of the Chamber of Deputies of the Czech Republic Jan Hamacek.
Welcoming the guests in our country, the President noted that the Czech Republic is one of Armenia’s important partners in Europe, and our country is interested in deepening relations with the friendly state. Serzh Sargsyan expressed hope that the visit of the Czech parliamentarians will help to strengthen bilateral relations and will serve as an impetus for the expansion of cooperation between the legislative bodies of Armenia and the Czech Republic. In the framework of their visit, the Czech parliamentarians will have the opportunity to learn firsthand about Armenia and the Armenian people.
The President of Armenia spoke with satisfaction about the current level of the Armenian-Czech interparliamentary cooperation which is reflected in the active reciprocal visits of the parliamentarians and close cooperation of the Friendship Groups functioning in two Parliaments. The President expressed gratitude to Commission on Foreign Relations of the Chamber of Deputies of the Czech Republic for the unanimous adoption of the resolution on the Armenian Genocide and noted that he is aware that tomorrow delegation headed by Mr. Hamacek will visit the Genocide Memorial where the Czech parliamentarians will pay tribute to the memory of the victims of the Armenian Genocide.
Jan Hamacek thanked President Serzh Sargsyan for warm welcome and noted that he was glad to meet again with the President of Armenia whom he had had the honor to greet in the Czech Republic soon after assuming his post. The President of the Chamber of Deputies of the Czech Republic also hailed the current level of the Armenian-Czech political dialogue and established strong ties, as well as activities aimed at further strengthening of the bilateral relations. He stressed the importance of a full utilization of potential existing in the economic area and underscored that the parliamentarians are ready to support cooperation in that area too.
At the meeting, the parties spoke about deepening relations in bilateral as well as multilateral formats, including in the framework of the European Union and other international structures. The interlocutors noted with satisfaction mutual efforts aimed at the strengthening of the humanitarian ties which, in their opinion, allow the Armenian and Czech peoples to share each other’s spiritual and cultural values. Noting that quite recently, he has had the opportunity to receive in Armenia the spiritual leader of the Czech Republic, Archbishop of Prague Cardinal Dominik Duka, President Serzh Sargsyan in this context expressed satisfaction with the fact that the Church of Holy Spirit in Prague was transferred to the parish of St. Gregory the Illuminator of the Armenian Apostolic Church.
