PRESIDENT HELD A MEETING WITH THE AMBASSADORS OF THE OSCE PARTICIPATING STATES ACCREDITED TO ARMENIA
20.02.2015
Today President Serzh Sargsyan held a meeting with the ambassadors of the OSCE participating states accredited to the Republic of Armenia.
During a working dinner the Armenian President attached importance to such direct communications and exchange of views that have already become a tradition.
In his introductory remarks the President highly appreciated the OSCE role and potential in maintenance of security in Europe and conflict settlement. According to Serzh Sargsyan, the OSCE continues to serve as an important Pan-European platform to raise and discuss human rights protection, politico-military, economic and environmental issues.
In this context, the Armenian President reflected upon the negotiation process of Nagorno-Karabakh conflict resolution, underlining the importance of the continuous active involvement of OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chair countries in maintaining security not only in the countries party to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and our region, but also in entire Europe. President Serzh Sargsyan once again underscored the numerously expressed position of Armenia that the principles of international law and the Helsinki Final Act could never be interpreted arbitrarily and none of them could prevail over the other one.
The President presented the last year of negotiations mediated by the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chair countries, the present-day concerns and issues, as well as Armenia’s approaches to finding possible solutions to them in the current situation.
Serzh Sargsyan also touched upon the events dedicated to the Centennial of the Armenian Genocide to be held in 2015, the significance of commemoration of genocide victims, current international issues and challenges, global threats to peace and stability, the issues on the domestic and foreign policy agenda of Armenia, the new economic development opportunities offered by Armenia’s membership in the Eurasian Economic Union, the cooperation deepening perspectives between Armenia and the EU as well as multi-sectoral reforms in process in Armenia, including constitutional reforms.
The sides exchanged views on the aforementioned topics. The Armenian President answered all the questions of participants’ interest.
