NEWLY-APPOINTED UAE AMBASSADOR TO ARMENIA PRESENTS HIS CREDENTIALS TO PRESIDENT

 Jassim Mohammed Al Qasimi, the newly-appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to the Republic of Armenia, today handed over his credentials to President Serzh Sargsyan.

The President congratulated the newly-appointed ambassador on starting his diplomatic tenure in our country and wished him success, expressing the hope that during his time in office Ambassador Al Qasimi would use his personal experience and professional abilities maximally in order to further reinforce and deepen the friendly ties between Armenia and the UAE. Underscoring that Armenian-Arab relations have been rooted in age-old friendship, Serzh Sargsyan mentioned that today it provides firm ground for Armenia and Arab countries to successfully develop their interstate relations which have stood high on Armenia’s foreign policy agenda. According to the Armenian President, Armenia-UAE relations have set an excellent example of collaboration.

Ambassador Al Qasimi assured that his country too had a very warm and respectful attitude towards Armenia and the Armenian people. He said that it was a huge honor for him to become the UAE’s first resident ambassador to Armenia and stressed that he was getting down to work, being confident to make tangible progress in all mutually beneficial areas.

At the meeting, the RA President and the UAE ambassador discussed prospects of promoting collaboration, attracting investments and, hence, of implementing certain programs in a number of promising areas, including agriculture, mining, healthcare, tourism, aviation, jewelry and diamond manufacturing, banking, infrastructure, energy etc..

The sides also reflected upon the collaboration between Armenia and the UAE within the framework of international organizations, the regional situation and present challenges, the Nagorno-Karabakh peace process, as well as upon the events to be held this year to mark the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide.
