08.11.2014
President Serzh Sargsyan today received a delegation headed by the Minister of Healthcare of the Russian Federation (RF) Veronica Skvortsova. The delegation has arrived in Armenia to take part in the first Armenian-Russian health forum.
The President welcomed the guests, attached great importance to the forum and expressed the hope that it would be useful and effective. According to Serzh Sargsyan, laying down the foundation for a new healthcare cooperation format, the forum would certainly boost strategic partnership between Armenia and Russia and would strengthen inter-allied relations between the two countries.
The Armenian President underscored that there are countless healthcare issues which are related to everyone and concern every aspect of social-political life. According to the President, those issues know no bounds and it is important to combine efforts of all countries, regardless of their territory or wealth. In the President’s opinion, the Ebola outbreak which is a serious challenge for African states and not only, is the striking illustration of this fact.
The RF health minister agreed that there are numerous global challenges facing healthcare and it is impossible to tackle them without making concerted efforts, rendering mutual assistance, familiarizing with contemporary scientific achievements and exchange of experience.
On behalf of the delegation, Veronica Skvortsova thanked President Serzh Sargsyan for the reception and his undivided attention to healthcare issues. She noted that all participants had prepared for the forum carefully which brought clear results: a number of important and promising documents were concluded, close ties with the RA Ministry of Health and Yerevan State Medical University were established, arrangements for organizing forums on a regular basis and deepening cooperation between the two countries within that framework were made. Accordingly, next forum is to be held in Moscow.
