PRESIDENT RECEIVES GERMAN FOREIGN MINISTER FRANK-WALTER STEINMEIER

President Serzh Sargsyan today received the Foreign Minister of the Federal Republic of Germany Frank-Walter Steinmeier who has arrived in Armenia on an official visit.
The president welcomed the dignitary to our country and underscored that the friendly country of Germany is Armenia’s vital partner and frequent reciprocal visits and contacts at various levels are a good stimulus to developing interstate relations. Serzh Sargsyan expressed satisfaction with the fact that since establishing diplomatic relations between the two countries, Armenia and Germany have expanded and strengthened their cooperation through about six dozen agreements which have elevated interstate relations to a qualitatively new level.
Noting that he had the opportunity to visit Armenia previously, Foreign Minister Steinmeier stressed that it is his first visit as Foreign Minister which is aimed at further intensifying Armenian-German political dialogue and enhance friendly relations. The minister and the RA President agreed that year after year mutual ties in the political, economic and many other spheres of reciprocal concern have become closer.
Except for discussing issues regarding the Armenian-German bilateral agenda, the RA President and the German foreign minister touched upon Armenia-EU relations, exchanged views on international and regional issues and challenges and efforts aimed at responding to them.
The interlocutors also touched upon latest developments around the peace process of the NKR conflict settlement and its prospect.
