PRESIDENT RECEIVES AUSTRIAN FOREIGN MINISTER SEBASTIAN KURZ

Today, President Serzh Sargsyan received Austrian Minister of Foreign Affairs Sebastian Kurz who has arrived in Armenian on an official visit.
The president welcomed the visit of Foreign Minister Kurz to our country and underscored that he is hosting the Austrian delegation with a great pleasure which is a good opportunity to recall his official visit to Austria in June. President Serzh Sargsyan asked the Austrian Foreign Minister to convey his warm regards to President Heinz Fischer with whom the president had conducted a very effective and constructive dialogue. Serzh Sargsyan expressed hope that within the framework of his busy agenda Sebastian Kurz will hold effective meetings and discussions which will stimulate promotion of bilateral collaboration giving a new impulse to the Armenian-Austrian relations.
Foreign Minister Kurz noted that Austria is keen not only to promote political cooperation with Armenia, but also to pay close attention to collaboration in multifarious spheres, especially in the economic one. According to the minster, it is no accident that together with him a large delegation of Austrian businessmen has arrived in Armenia. Serzh Sargsyan expressed hope that the contacts between the two countries’ business communities and the opening of the Austrian Development Agency office within the framework of Minister Kurz’s visit to Yerevan will greatly stimulate bilateral trade and economic ties.
The interlocutors agreed that the humanitarian and cultural ties are one of the key factors which bridge the two peoples. Serzh Sargsyan thanked the Austrian authorities and the Austrian people for showing a sincere attitude towards the Armenian spiritual and cultural heritage and the Mekhitarist Congregation thanks to which Vienna has become a popular Armenology center.
At the meeting the Armenian President and the Austrian Foreign Minister praised the Armenian-Austrian cooperation within the framework of international organizations.
Serzh Sargsyan and Sebastian Kurz also touched upon regional issues, the current state of the peaceful resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and its prospect.
