 The candidature of Hovik Abrahamyan for the post of the RA Prime Minister was confirmed at the sessions of the Executive Body and Board of the Republican Party of Armenia. In a conversation with the journalists after the sessions of the RPA Executive Body and Board the Speaker of the Republican Party of Armenia Eduard Sharmazanov noted that the RA Prezident Serzh Sargsyan nominated the candidature of Hovik Abrahamyan for the post of the RA Prime Minister as a result of the consultations with the parliamentary political forces. It was confirmed at the sessions. On April 3 the Executive Body of the Republican Party of Armenia accepted the resignation of the RA Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan. The same day Tigran Sargsyan informed in his Facebook post that back in February he had made a request to the President Serzh Sargsyan to accept his resignation. But an agreement was achieved to postpone presenting the application of his resignation, taking into account a number of important state events and need for holding the economic conference of the Republican Party of Armenia.
In conformity with 55 Article of the RA Constitution the President of the Republic of Armenia shall appoint the Prime Minister within ten days after acceptance of the resignation of the Government. The Government shall be formed within 20 days after the appointment of the Prime Minister.
