President Serzh Sargsyan received today the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergei Lavrov, who is in Armenia on official visit.
At the outset, the parties congratulated each other on the establishment twenty years ago on this day of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Armenia and Russian Federation. The President of Armenia and the RF Minister of Foreign Affairs underscored that political dialogue going on between the two countries, as well as cooperation in all areas – trade and economic, military and technical, humanitarian and dynamic interaction in the framework of international organizations testify to the strategic relationship and strong allied relations between the two friendly peoples and states, which are growing stronger by year through the regular high-level meetings of the Presidents of the two countries.
Sergei Lavrov said that it is a jubilee year because August this year celebrates also the 15th anniversary of the Treaty on Friendship, Cooperation and Mutual Assistance. He noted that the events organized in the framework of the jubilee celebrations coincide with the programs aimed at the utmost development of the bilateral cooperation.
