PRESIDENT PARTICIPATED AT THE INFORMAL MEETING OF THE HEADS OF THE CSTO MEMBER STATES

President Serzh Sargsyan, who is in the Republic of Kyrgyzstan on a working visit, today in Bishkek participated at the informal meeting of the Heads of state of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO).
In the framework of the agenda, the Heads of the CSTO member states discussed the draft decision on the Secretary General of the CSTO and unanimously decided to appoint to the position of the Secretary General of the CSTO the Secretary of the National Security Council of the Republic of Armenia Yuri Khatchaturov. The decision enters into force on May 2, 2017. The Heads of state also decided to award the former Secretary General of the CSTO Nikolay Bordyuzha with the First Degree Excellence Distinction of the CSTO Collective Security Council.
At the informal meeting of the Heads of the CSTO member states discussed were also issues related to the political-military and political-strategic situation in the CSTO area of responsibility, adopted were some additional directives aimed at countering security threats.
