HARUTYUNYAN Hamlet

Born on October 5, 1947 in the village of Tchartar in the Martouni region.

1970 - Graduated from the Yerevan State University. Historian. Docent and Historical Sciences PhD.

1970 - 1976 - Worked as a laboratory assistant, later probationer and then professor first in USSR History and later the Russian History Department of the Khatchadur Abovyan Yerevan State Pedagogical Institute.

1990 - 1998 - Member of the “Artsakh” Patriotic Association and later became its vice president.

1997 - 1999 - Advisor to the RA Minister of Education and Science.

2000 - President of the “Artsakh” Patriotic Association.

1999 - 2003 - Deputy of the National Assembly (proportional system, “Law and Unity” alliance). Member of the Standing Committee on Science, Education, Culture and Youth Affairs of the National Assembly. Member of the “Law and Unity” faction.

2003 - 2007 - Deputy of the National Assembly (proportional electoral system, RPA.) Member of the Standing Committee on Foreign Relations of the National Assembly. Member of the RPA faction.

2007 - 2012 - Deputy of the National Assembly (proportional electoral system, RPA.)

June 19, 2007 - September 29, 2009 - Member of the Standing Committee on Science, Education, Culture, Youth and Sport of the National Assembly.

September 29, 2009 - May 31, 2012 - Member of the Standing Committee on Foreign Relations of the National Assembly.

May 6, 2012 - Elected as Deputy of the National Assembly by the proportional electoral system from the Republican Party of Armenia.

Mr. Harutyunyan is married with two children.
