He was born on August 1 1956 in Yerevan.

From 1975-1977 he served in the Soviet Army.

He finished Yerevan State Technical School of Food Industry in 1975. He received his degree in thermal engineering from Yerevan Polytechnic Institute in 1984. He is a candidate of Technical Sciences.

From 1974-1975 he worked in the Yerevan Beer Factory as an engine driver. From 1983-1988 he worked as a chief foreman at refrigerant compressor shop, from 1988-1997 as a chief engineer, from 1997-2000 as a technical director, from 2000-2003 as a director of the Yerevan Beer CJSC, from 2003-2007 as a general director.

On May 12, 2007 he was elected as a deputy of the National Assembly from the electoral district # 41.

He is married and has two children.
